Cartier has honed its style at 13 rue de la Paix for over a century. Reimagined in 2022, the historic address today brings together jewelry, watchmaking, heritage salons, and workshops across six floors.

A few steps from Place Vendôme, Boucheron holds court at number 26 while Chaumet guards its 12 Vendôme with care. In this district where carats are counted as much as centuries of history, Cartier has its own storied address at 13 rue de la Paix. Here since 1899, the house has made this hôtel particulier one of its signature showcases, fully reimagined in 2022. Behind the black marble facade, 13 Paix is laid out over six levels, balancing collections, historic salons, workshops, and spaces dedicated to Cartier’s savoir-faire.

The renovation carried out between 2020 and 2022 by Moinard Bétaille, Studio Parisien and Laura Gonzalez precisely reveals the scale of the space. On the ground floor, a vast atrium floods the area with light and depth, while the historic salons Jean Cocteau and Louis Cartier have been restored. The first floor centers on engagements and marriage; the second floor spotlights Haute Joaillerie; next come the service areas, the Haute Joaillerie workshops, then the residence and the archives on the upper levels. Marble, gilding, fabrics and embroidery punctuate the journey: here, jewelry isn’t limited to display windows.

This address obviously wasn’t chosen by chance. At the end of the 19th century, Louis Cartier set up shop on Rue de la Paix as the Vendôme district became the nerve center of Parisian high jewelry. No. 13 on Rue de la Paix then accompanied the evolution of Cartier’s style, notably under the impulse of Louis Cartier and Jeanne Toussaint, creative director from 1933. More than a century later, the house is therefore still based at the address where a part of its identity was forged.

When it comes to the collections, visitors naturally flock for Cartier signatures: jewelry, high horology, wedding bands, engagement rings, leather goods, fragrances, eyewear and accessories.
