Some doors are worth peeking behind. With Paris Design Week, Paris is experienced differently from September 10 to 19, 2026, as exhibitions and installations turn design into an experience to live as much as to observe. The event invites you to shift your perspective on the city and to discover creations conceived in direct dialogue with the spaces that host them. Ten days to see design converse with the city and its settings.
For this guide, we ditch the grids and head straight to Paris's gardens and courtyards. Behind the facades of private mansions, museums, and institutions, the cobbles and parterres welcome contemporary creations that make the most of the backdrop. The vegetation, light, and architecture often become part of the installations, while some works simply change how the space is used, for the duration of a visit. A chance to multiply design pauses in settings that are already worth a detour, between discreet courtyards and historic gardens.
