Put on your running gear and your best shoes—it's time to take on an exciting athletic challenge! Join us for the Montgeron Ekiden on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in the Essonne department. Celebrating its 5th edition, this event offers two race formats: a relay marathon or a 10-kilometer race in pairs, weaving through the Montgeron lawns and the paths of Sénart Forest!
What exactly is Ekiden? This unique relay race format is a marathon designed for team participation, where runners pass the baton from one to the next, making it a true team effort. The full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers is divided into several sections. In a team of six runners, each member will run three segments of 5 kilometers, two of 10 kilometers, and a final stretch of 7.195 kilometers—together, they complete the marathon as a cohesive relay team.
In addition to the main relay race, the Montgeron Ekiden also offers a 10-kilometer race for pairs, where each runner covers a matching 5 kilometers. Children are not left out, with a fun biathlon-inspired event featuring running, obstacles, and throws. And at the finish line, osteopaths will be on hand to help soothe those post-race aches!
