Following in the footsteps of paddle tennis, urban tennis is coming to the capital for the Journées du Patrimoine weekend! On September 20 and 21, 2025, on the Quai du Port de Solférino, take part in a historic sporting event, the Urban Tennis Challenge, organized by the French Tennis Federation. Open to all free of charge, an urban tennis court will be set up on the quayside, where you can play with friends, strangers or even against professional players, if you're lucky!
The program includes challenges, mini-matches and accessible activities for young and old alike, the ideal way to discover tennis in a fun way! Gone are the Roland-Garros courts: here, you can play outdoors, without pressure, in a friendly setting overlooking the Seine, alongside some of the great names in French tennis, such as Gilles Simon, who will be on hand on Saturday. There' s no need to register, just turn up!
For those who would like to continue discovering tennis under privileged conditions, the FFT is offering the public the chance to take part in the "Urban Tennis Challenge" quiz from September 15 to 28, in a bid to win a 1-hour training session with Gilles Simon at the legendary Centre National d'Entraînement in Paris! And if you've discovered a passion for tennis, there are plenty of them in the capital, so there's bound to be one near you.
After sport, how about a bit of heritage in the neighbourhood?
