The Challenge Foch Ronarc’h brings together the rugby teams of the French Army and the French Navy for a sporting event in support of a good cause. The women’s teams take to the field first, followed by the men’s, with an aim that goes beyond the match result: supporting injured service members and their loved ones.
The proceeds from the day will go to the associations Entraide Marine and Terre Fraternité. The event is part of the Armistice commemorations and highlights the links between rugby, remembrance and mutual aid.
Around the matches, the organizers have announced unit and equipment displays, dog-handling demonstrations, performances by the Paris Fire Brigade’s gymnasts and musical performances. A ground drone is set to take part in the opening of the matches, replacing the helicopter delivery of the ball that was floated for a previous edition.
