It's the week's big date for football fans: this Friday, June 26, 2026 at 9 p.m., the France national team faces Norway in its final group match of the 2026 World Cup. In the Yvelines (78), seven municipalities open their fan zones and install giant screens to experience the game as a community, from the northern part of the department to the Seine loop. We tell you where to wave your flags.
The stakes are simple. France and Norway sit on six points apiece, separated by a single goal in goal difference — in favor of the Blues. A mere draw would therefore be enough for France to finish top of Group I.
That detail matters more than it seems. If they finish first, the Round of 16 would be played in New York rather than in Dallas or Miami. Kick-off is Friday at 9 p.m., at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston.
Great news for both early birds and partygoers: France-Norvège is being shown free-to-air on M6, and also on beIN Sports 1 for subscribers. A chance to follow the match from your sofa, or better yet, at the heart of one of the department's fan zones.
This time, the major sites in Yvelines are reopening their doors for a match scheduled at the perfect time. Here are the seven meeting points, all free to enter:
Our pick? For a genuine open-air stadium vibe, head to Carrières-sous-Poissy, a 2,000-seat venue. And if the summer heat gets unruly, Le Perray-en-Yvelines and Croissy-sur-Seine offer the roof and air conditioning—perfect for staying pumped while staying cool.
Practically speaking, access is free everywhere, but the rules vary from town to town. Maisons-Laffitte requires picking up and wearing a wristband in advance (and there are hardly any left), while Croissy-sur-Seine mandates online booking. For outdoor sites like Carrières-sous-Poissy or Mantes-la-Jolie, doors typically open around 8 p.m., subject to capacity. So it’s best to arrive early and check the conditions with your town hall before you go. The full schedule for the French team can be found on the FIFA official site.
If France manages to hold on to first place, a scenario reinforced by the goal difference, it would face the Round of 16 on Sunday, June 29, at MetLife Stadium in New York. In other words, Friday night felt like a dress rehearsal for the main event to come.
