The concert organized by RockCorps France was held this year in association with Ibis, at theAccor Arena in Bercy, on Wednesday May 29, 2024. The original concept of RockCorps is to use music as a " catalyst for social change, bringing together people from all walks of life to work hand in hand towards a more united and supportive society ", according to the organization.
To get their tickets for the free concert, volunteers had to give 4 hours of their time to a civic project. In exchange for these 4 hours of volunteer work, volunteers received their tickets to see Macklemore, Franglish and Rosinia at the legendary venue in the 12th arrondissement. Thanks to the project, 124 associations benefited from the help of volunteers in 8 French towns and in the Île de France region.
At 6 p.m., the doors of theAccor Arena opened and volunteers were able to run to find the best seat for the concert, after passing a hurdle of honor from the project managers. Once everyone had settled in, the concert began at 7 p.m., with opening act Dj Bens, who set the mood just right.
Rosinia takes to the stage at 8pm for a 30-minute show. Winner of the Flamme 2023 award for female revelation, Rosinia creates a mix of urban pop and R&B, captivating the 13,000 spectators throughout her set. Next up is Franglish, a rapper and dancer well known to audiences in France and abroad. With his troupe of dancers, Franglish sets the Accor Arena stage alight, performing his best-known songs. The rapper will be back at the Accor Arena in Paris on April 11 and 12, 2025 .
After the entertainment, it's time to discover the international star many have been waiting for: Macklemore. The American rapper made a name for himself the world over withhis song Thrift Shop, produced with Ryan Lewis. The song racked up overa billion views on YouTube and reached 2.2 million singles sales. Macklemore continued his career with a string of hit singles, including Can't Hold Us and Glorious .
Macklemore, who was eagerly awaited on stage, won over the audience as soon as he arrived. The American rapper donned his trademark leopard coat from the Thrift Shop video and got the whole audience up and dancing. Between songs, he exchanges with the audience and insists on his love for Paris and the French. A touching concert during which he wants to be close to the audience, even asking spectators not to film the whole concert, but to live in the moment. He ended the concert with his famous song Can't Hold Us, and went down into the audience, who carried him out in a shower of confetti. A great moment, and a great way to motivate the French to volunteer .
The Ibis RockCorps France concert was well worth the detour, and inspired us to reinvent ourselves through civic projects. Well done to the people behind the project for this great initiative. Their motto: You give, you receive!
