Le Spectacle de Cornebidouille will be performed from December 21 to 28, 2025, at the Montmartre Galabru theater. Adapted from the albums by Pierre Bertrand and Magali Bonniol, this creation combines theater, music, and interactive storytelling. Supported by the Ze Prod Next Door association, the project is part of a live performance initiative aimed at young audiences aged three and up, faithful to the playful and warm spirit of the books published by École des Loisirs.
The show takes the form of a theatrical and musical tale in which the story of young Pierre, confronted by the witch Cornebidouille, is narrated at a dynamic pace. The staging combines singing, narration, and acting to create an immersive universe in which children are invited to participate. The actors actively engage the audience, particularly at moments when the spectators must help Pierre outwit the famous witch. This interactive approach helps to make each performance lively and suitable for a family cultural outing.
The show is based on an adaptation by Pierre Moreno, created in collaboration with the artistic team at Ze Prod Next Door. Volumes 1 and 2 of the series serve as the basis for a stage adaptation that adds original songs and adapted dialogue. This contemporary interpretation of the tale respects the humorous tone and themes of the albums—courage, imagination, and ingenuity—while making them accessible to children up to 11 years old. The mobile set design allows for fluid movement between scenes, with a backdrop designed to evoke the colorful world of Magali Bonniol's illustrations.
The cast includes three actors, a storyteller, and a sound and lighting crew, forming a compact and flexible ensemble capable of adapting to different theater configurations. The character of Cornebidouille, an iconic figure in children's literature, is embodied in an expressive stage version that captures his main visual characteristics. Pierre, the hero of the story, forms a duo with the witch, punctuated by humor and twists and turns. This dynamic keeps the audience's attention throughout the sixty minutes of the show.
Created in Essonne, the show has already been performed around thirty times in Île-de-France, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from children and their families. It is part of Ze Prod Next Door's mission, which aims to promote access to art and culture through the creation and distribution of works intended for young audiences. Le Spectacle de Cornebidouille can be seen at the Théâtre Montmartre Galabru from December 21 to 28.
