The True Story of the Snow Queen brings Andersen to Théâtre Douze, from December 21 to 24, 2026. Compagnie du Vent Contraire presents a theatrical and musical fairy tale for ages 6 and up.

The True Story of The Snow Queen returns to the tale by Hans Christian Andersen and Gerda’s quest to find her friend Kay. The Vent Contraire company offers an adaptation combining theater and music, performed by two actors.

Shards of an enchanted mirror have pierced Kay’s eye and heart. Cold and indifferent, the boy disappears. Gerda sets off to find him, traveling all the way to the Snow Queen’s castle. Along the way, she meets characters and animals who help or hinder her journey.

Maëlys Simbozel adapted the story and co-directs the production with Floriane Delahousse. The two women play the various characters in the story. The music is composed by Constantin Alaïmalaïs and Maëlys Simbozel, making it an integral part of this stage adaptation of the tale.
