The Musée d'art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme revisits the Dreyfus affair, with an educational and historical exhibition on view from March 13 to August 31, 2025.

He's an important figure in French history, a key figure in the 19th century: everyone knows the nameAlfred Dreyfus, and the Affair that divided France. From March 13 to August 31, 2025, the Musée d'art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme invites us to rediscover and better understand this story, thanks to an educational exhibition.

Nearly 250 photographs, archive documents and film extracts, as well as some sixtyworks of art, are brought together in this exhibition. The exhibition Alfred Dreyfus. Truth and Justice retraces the major stages of this affair, the impact it had on the Third Republic and the law on the separation of State and religion, the anti-Semitic violence that struck Dreyfus...

Through period documents and works by artists such as Gustave Caillebotte, Camille Pissarro, Édouard Vuillard and many others, the museum tells the story of the infamous Dreyfus Affair. The captain, unjustly accused of treason, is at the heart of this journey: his writings, correspondence and works are on display, in which he speaks of his tireless fight to restore his name and obtain justice.

This exhibition aims to show the climate in France at the end of the 19th century, a country in which anti-Semitism flourished and reached the highest levels of government. The MahJ wants to highlight the schemes that were put in place to smear the Jewish officer.

The tour also reveals lesser-known aspects of this chapter in history: the response to this anti-Semitism, the various reactions of the Jewish community, and the "birth" of intellectuals. Thanks to newsreels from the period, and fiction censored by the French government, visitors can also discover how this subject was approached, what could be said about it - and what was kept quiet.

An exhibition for history buffs, not to be missed at the Musée d'art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme.
