Palais de la Découverte: detailed timetable for the reopening of the science museum in Paris

For the past five years, the Palais de la Découverte has been undergoing a major renovation. This Parisian science museum is located in the west wing of the Grand Palais. The monument has benefited from a major refurbishment project, and is gradually reopening its various spaces. After the grand reopening of the Grand Palais during the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Palais de la Découverte now takes center stage.

The museum has finally completed its transformation, and is preparing to welcome back its public. However, lovers of Palais de la Découverte will have to be patient: the museum is reopening, but only in part.

This reopening is not all plain sailing. A date had been set: the museum was to reopen on June 11. However, GrandPalaisRmn, the contracting authority for the Palais de la découverte, has announced delays on the renovation site. As a result, the reopening schedule has been postponed, and no precise date has been given to the public.

As soon as possible, visitors should be able to enjoy a multi-disciplinary festival, exhibitions, workshops... The museum will then close its doors again for a few months, to complete the work and interior fitting out of the permanent spaces, before reopening definitively at the end of 2026.

So what can we see and do at the museum in the near future? When can we expect to see this key museum of the 8th arrondissement and of Paris back for good? Here's a detailed, temporary schedule.

• Summer 2025: reopening of the Palais de la Découverte, with two exhibitions and the Premières ondes festival. The permanent exhibition spaces will not be fitted out, but this is an opportunity to discover the renovated monument as it was when it was built.
  
  
• October 6, 2025: final renovation and refurbishment of the Palais de la Découverte's permanent exhibition areas. The Palais des Enfants remains open during this period, and the Les Étincelles space at the Palais de la Découverte remains open and active in the 15th arrondissement.
  
  
• End 2026: the Palais de la Découverte opens fully and definitively, and Les Étincelles closes.
