As it does every autumn, theSwedish Institute is decked out in the colors of Paris Design Week! After last year's installation "Forêts astrales", which showcased the work of five contemporary artists, the Nordic cultural center is now presenting " Blazing Grace " . For just over two weeks, come and discover the work of five Scandinavian glass artists: Maria Bang Espersen, Hanna Hansdotter, Peter Hermansson, Fredrik Nielsen and Kirsten Vikingstad Hermansson.
Sharing a common love of craftsmanship and a fervent desire to contribute to the renewal of the art of glassmaking, these five Swedish artists unveil their works from September 3 to 21, 2025 in this free exhibition, described as " unbridled, wild and colorful ".
Swedish glassmaking has a long and rich history. Did you know that? The country's first glassworks was founded in the mid-17th century. The Kosta glassworks, still in operation today, was founded in 1742! 100 years after the breakthrough of the"Swedish Grace" movement, the " Blazing Grace " exhibition aims to shake things up thanks to artists who don't hesitate to question established traditions and conventional approaches.
On the second floor of the Hôtel de Marle, the exhibition features some 15 works combining flat, slumped and tinned glass, glass-blown and molded glass, colored glass rods and molded and cut glass. A video projection also reveals the fascinating and impressive work of the glassblower. In short, this is an original installation for glass art enthusiasts, of course, but also for the curious, as well as for lovers of contemporary art and design.
Please note that this free exhibition is part of Paris Design Week and Les Traversées du Marais festival.
