It's a Parisian gallery well known to comic book lovers! Throughout the year, Galerie Daniel Maghen opens its doors to a large number of artists, happy to present their recent work in Paris. Recent highlights include Benjamin Lacombe and a Rosinski / Thorgal retrospective.
This autumn, a new exhibition is on view - and it's always free! This time, Galerie Daniel Maghen invites you to discover an installation featuring works by Josep Homs and Daria Schmitt.
Not to be missed until September 20, 2025, this exhibition is an opportunity to learn more about cartoonist and colorist Josep Homs through a retrospective of his flagship series"SHI". Unveiling a total of over 80 works - original plates, covers, unpublished illustrations and watercolors - the exhibition immerses visitors in this adventure story set in the Victorian era. Curious visitors and Josep Homs fans can admire plates from the last three"SHI" albums, as well as works from"Millénium","Secrets - L'Angélus" and"Le Diable et Coral".
Until September 20, 2025, Galerie Daniel Maghen is also exhibiting the impressive and fascinating work of Daria Schmitt, to coincide with the release of her latest book,"La Tête de mort venue de Suède". The author, now known for"Ornithomaniacs" and"Le Bestiaire du Crépuscule", continues her exploration of literature and philosophy. Blending art and science,"La Tête de mort venue de Suède" is a surprising investigation tracing the unlikely history of René Descartes' skull. The whole is tinged with dreamlike poetry, with ultra-elaborate black-and-white drawings.
Here, too, the Parisian gallery hopes to please the artist's admirers, presenting some 50 original plates from the album, as well as sublime illustrations of Alice in Wonderland, plates from"Bestiaire du Crépuscule" and"Ornithomaniacs", not to mention an incredible piece in Indian ink and gold leaf. For fans, note that the Daniel Maghen gallery is organizing an exclusive signing session with Daria Schmitt on Saturday September 20 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Please note that only 10 tickets - distributed the same morning when the gallery opens - will give access to this signing session.
