As the months go by, the commissioning of lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the Grand Paris Express draws ever closer. If all goes according to plan, the southern section of line 15 will be the first to be inaugurated, at the end of 2026, it has been announced. In all, 68 new stations will be built, enabling users to connect the main suburban living and working areas without having to travel via Paris. But these new stations will also unveil a series of works of art.
For each station in the new metro, an artist and an architect will work in tandem. And the Société des Grands Projets, in charge of designing the Grand Paris Express, has already unveiled a number of world-renowned artists for the occasion, including Sophie Calle, Prune Nourry, JR, Daniel Buren, Eva Jospin, Laurent Grasso and Vhils, part of whose fresco can already be seen at Aéroport d'Orly station (line 14).
" The art collection of the Grand Paris Express will form a large underground museum, open to all, which will reinforce the urban ambition of the project ," explains Jean-François Monteils, Chairman of the Board of Directors of
, the Société des grands projets, in a press release.
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Société des Grands Projetslifted the veil on the 30 new (and final) artistic projects, unveiling all 70 permanent works of art to be integrated into the future stations of the Grand Paris Express. Among those joining Michelangelo Pistoletto, Susanna Fristcher, Yann Kersalé, Luc Delahaye and Ivàn Navarro are Japanese artist Kôichi Kurita at Bagneux - Lucie Aubrac station (line 15 south), and Tania Mouraud at La Défense (line 15 west), Jeanne Vicérial at Bécon-les-Bruyères station (line 15 West), Otobong Nkanga at Bois-Colombes (line 15 West), Seulgi Lee at Les Agnettes station (line 15 West) as well as Théo Mercier at Pont de Bondy station (line 15 East) and Hervé Di Rosa at Guyancourt (line 18). In all, the project features 56% French artists and 44% international artists.
