Since 2010, the Paul Belmondo Museum in Boulogne-Billancourt has been home to the works of this 20th-century French sculptor, a leading figure in figurative sculpture, in a human-scale space with an exhibition layout designed to appeal to the senses.

In Boulogne-Billancourt, just a few metro stops from the capital, is a discreet museum: the Paul Belmondo Museum. Housed in the Château Buchillot, a former 18th-century "folly" classified as a historical monument, this place pays tribute to one of the great Frenchsculptors of the 20th century, Paul Belmondo (1898-1982), father of actor Jean-Paul Belmondo.

This little-known museum invites visitors to discoverthe sensitive work of this artist in a small-scale setting, as well as the essentials of modern figurative sculpture.

In 2007, his three children, Jean-Paul, Alain, and Muriel Belmondo, donated an exceptional collection to the City of Boulogne-Billancourt: 263 sculptures and molds in marble or bronze, 452 medals and preparatory works, nearly 966 drawings, and a studio collection.

This massive donation enabled the creation, in 2010, of a space entirely dedicated to his work, inspired by 18th-century cabinets of curiosities , where certain pieces evoke the artist's public commissions. Among his achievements are the 1963 copy of La Danse by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, located on the right side of the façade ofthe Opéra Garnier, and two bronzes, Jeannette and Apollon, which have been in the Tuileries Garden since 1988.

Visitors pass through several themed rooms: sculptures and plaster models, medals and preparatory works, drawings and intimate sketches. A workshop reconstructedfrom the one in Montparnasse allows visitors to visualize the artist's creative environment, with his tools, models, and scribbled notebooks.

The museum also benefits from its architectural setting: the Château Buchillot is surrounded by a small garden in which some of the works interact with nature. It is easily accessible via line 10, Boulogne Jean-Jaurès station, then a few minutes' walk or bus 123. Open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (as well as the first Sunday of the month for free ), admission is €8 full price, €5.50 reduced price, and free for those under 26.
