They haven't aged a day, and yet they're clearly celebrating their 30 years in 2026! The Pokémon have captivated generations of kids, from video games to trading card games, not to mention the séries animées and the wide range of licensed merchandise. The musée en Herbe marks this special milestone with us by staging an unofficial yet utterly festive exhibition for both grown-ups and little ones.
From April 16 to September 6, 2026, the exhibition Admirez-les tous pays tribute to the iconic franchise that has taken the world by storm. Visitors of all generations can rediscover their favorite pocket monsters, and also admire contemporary works inspired by the Pokémon saga.
The course of the exhibition unfolds in several stages. We begin, of course, with the origins of Pokémon, taking us back to 1996. The Musée en Herbe shines a spotlight on Satoshi Tajiri, the visionary creator of Pokémon. Visitors can explore a curated selection of the very first trading cards from Japan and France, along with some sketches from the original animated series, and vintage merchandise. Dedicated fans can even try their luck at catching Pokémon on giant Game Boys!
Pokémon fans are well aware: many creatures are inspired by mythology and Japanese folklore. This exhibition explores the cultural influences that helped shape this iconic franchise. Visitors can also see how Pokémon has inspired a variety of contemporary artists and creators: these cultural exchanges create an engaging and sometimes surprising dialogue, offering guests a chance to test their general knowledge... Can you spot references to Van Gogh, Mucha, or Edvard Munch among the Pokémon cards on display?
Decades later, these cultural exchanges continue to influence both pop culture and the Pokémon franchise. By bringing together more than ten artists and street artists, the Musée en Herbe highlights the enduring impact of this iconic saga and its mark on the art world.
This exhibition should appeal to adults, who nostalgically revisit the games of their youth, and to children who can discover the world of Pokémon. Le musée en Herbe and its exhibition remain aimed at the youngest visitors: the kid-friendly path is designed at a child’s height, and the storyline isn’t explored in depth. Yet Pokémon fans of all ages should find plenty to enjoy and marvel at in this anniversary exhibition.
Pokémon enthusiasts won’t want to miss this interactive and family-friendly exhibition, designed to delight both kids and adults!
