La Caverne du Pont-Neuf : Meet JR in this Marais art gallery in Paris

In parallel with the Pont-Neuf, transformed into a monumental illusion, and the sketches unveiled at Perrotin, JR invites the public to an autograph session on Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Paris. A chance to meet the artist everyone’s talking about right now, at the heart of a project that puts the artwork in dialogue with the city.

JR is back in Paris and isn’t exactly flying under the radar. With The Cave of Pont-Neuf, the artist turns the city’s oldest bridge into a vast mineral trompe-l’œil. A monumental illusion that grabs the eye, puzzles passersby, and gives Paris a new open-air backdrop. Here, people pause, take it in, photograph it—and above all try to figure out where the real ends and the image begins.

The Pont Neuf is continuing its metamorphosis. Led by JR, the oldest bridge in Paris is preparing to host La Caverne du Pont Neuf, a monumental installation conceived as an open-air immersive cave. Optical illusions, inflatable structures, and plays of light will transform the monument into a temporary mineral fault. A spectacular experience to be discovered from June 6 to 28, 2026, in the very heart of the capital. [Read more]

In the wake of this work, the Perrotin gallery, a stone's throw from Place des Vosges, presents Les Esquisses de la Caverne. An more intimate exhibition that pulls back the curtain on the project: research, drawings, experiments… everything that precedes the spectacular gesture. A shift in scale that takes you from the visual shock to the genesis itself, almost as if you were stepping into the artist's creative workshop.
