Every arrondissement has its own atmosphere. In Paris, one district follows another and no two are alike, offering us a plunge into different worlds at the crossroads of eras and cultures from all over the world to form the capital as we know it today. Some arrondissements are particularly popular with tourists, while others are home to Parisians both old and new, and still others form the Paris of Parisians. Among the latter is the 19th arrondissement.
Located on the right bank, the 19th arrondissement is both a district with a popular spirit and a stronghold of little-known heritage. In the maze of its narrow streets, you'll come face to face with picturesque places, making it a district full of surprises. Some spots are particularly popular with street artists , who transform them into open-air art galleries. When the weather's fine, stroll along the Canal de l'Ourcq, where a host of good addresses await you, while those in search of greener pastures can take in the sublime Parc des Buttes Chaumont or discover the hyperactive program at Parc de la Villette, home to the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie and the Philharmonie de Paris music museum.
The 19th arrondissement has a lot to offer in terms of cultural outings. That's why we've put together a list of the must-see places to visit inParis's 19th arrondissement: museums, monuments and current exhibitions. By the way, stay tuned: we'll be updating this guide as we make announcements and discoveries.
