In 1963, Raymond Devos, writer, actor, humorist and singer, acquired this property with his wife Simone. Located in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, the white building with its slate roof was the couple's home for many years. After the artist's death in 2006, it was transformed, in accordance with his wishes, into a museum, where fans and the simply curious can come and discover the whimsical intimacy of this astonishing house.
While some rooms have been left unchanged- such as Raymond Devos' study, with its collection of books and dictionaries, or his "little museum" on the top floor - other areas have been redesigned, such as his artist's dressing room (at the entrance) or a corridor displaying all his prizes and awards (including his two Molières).
On the second floor, have fun handling (with delicacy...) the joyful inventions of this protean artist, grouped together in a "cabinet of curiosities". Nearby, a music room displays Raymond Devos' many instruments (he played 17!), including a mischievous piano and a fiddle saw.
Before or after your visit, be sure to take a stroll through the pleasant garden. Letters on spikes decorate the flowerbeds here and there. On some of the branches, small, cheerful figures sway in the breeze... And as you stroll through the garden, you may come across a word or two from this facetious artist.
