One year after the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the City of Light is determined to honor this exceptional event. During the summer of 2025, numerous events will celebrate this special anniversary: sports practices, concerts, games... And to make the memory of this sporting event last even longer, monuments and works of art are also to be unveiled to the public.
Indeed, on May 26, 2025, Anne Hidalgo announced the creation of a monument of champions, designed to pay tribute to the French athletes who medaled during the Games. But that's not all. During the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, 10 gold statues were erected on either side of the river Seine, at the foot of the Alexandre III bridge. A mark of respect to 10 great women who have left their mark on French history.
Opening ceremony statues: who are the 10 women honored on the Seine?

As soon as the Games were over, the Mayor of Paris expressed her wish to see these statues permanently installed in the capital. A wish that is about to become reality.
The 10 statues will be installed and inaugurated on rue de la Chapelle, in the 18th arrondissement, on July 26, 2025. The statues, which stand almost four metres high, have now found their definitive place in the capital: they symbolize both the legacy of the Paris Games and the importance of female representations in history and culture.
The statues represent Christine de Pizan, Jeanne Barret, Olympe de Gouges, Louise Michel, Alice Guy, Alice Milliat, Paulette Nardal, Simone de Beauvoir, Simone Veil and Gisèle Halimi.
