The Château de Maisons in Maisons-Laffitte (78) will host an Empire Ball on Sunday, September 13, 2026. In the grand ballroom, the public is invited to learn the dances of the Second Empire at an all-ages event, where costumes, choreographies, waltzes and polkas whisk visitors back to the 19th century.

No more nightclub nights—quadrilles, curtsies, and waltzes take center stage. The Château de Maisons invites the public to travel back in time with an Empire Ball organized in its majestic ballroom. For an afternoon, children and adults alike can learn the dances of the Second Empire and experience the ambiance of the grand receptions that once animated aristocratic homes.

No need to be a veteran dancer to join in the circle. Organized by the young Mansonnian association Bals & Révérences, in partnership with Danse & Danceries of Blois, the event alternates choreographies, initiations, free dances, waltzes, polkas and other activities open to everyone. Visitors are invited to participate as much as to watch, letting themselves be carried by the historic atmosphere of the castle.

To complete the tableau, wearing Second Empire costumes or ball outfits is highly recommended. Crinolines, frock coats, gloves, or fans will help recreate the era's elegant atmosphere and, for a day, revive the art of imperial balls at the heart of the Château de Maisons-Laffitte. An opportunity to step into a genuine historic ballroom and let yourself be swept up in the dance.
