Summer evenings turn lawns into some of the loveliest outdoor cinemas. In Paris, cinephiles gather at the Monnaie, in the Cour Carrée at the Louvre, or in the city’s gardens to watch films under the stars. But the outdoor cinema experience isn’t confined to Paris. Across Île-de-France, towns invite people to enjoy a summer-night screening in settings that are sometimes surprising. In Maisons-Laffitte, within the Yvelines (78), a landmark monument provides the backdrop to this seasonal escape.
Known as the Cité du Cheval for its racecourse, stables and long-standing equestrian tradition, Maisons-Laffitte reveals another face when the sun goes down. The screening takes place in the parc du Château de Maisons, François Mansart’s masterpiece where heritage becomes the natural backdrop for an open-air screening. Audiences are invited to bring along a blanket or folding chair to settle on the grass before the film begins.
The lineup shifts from edition to edition, spotlighting a crowd-pleasing film you can discover free of charge in the Château’s park.
A unique way to rediscover one of the Yvelines' finest heritage sites, under the moonlight.
