Who hasn't dreamed of wandering through a castle as night falls? On Friday the 16th, Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th of October, gear up for the 2026 edition of the Nuit des Châteaux. This year, around a hundred castles and monuments across France are taking part in the event; a chance for the public to discover or rediscover these magnificent estates dating from the Middle Ages to the Enlightenment.
The concept is the brainchild of start-up Dartagnans, France's first crowdfunding platform enabling citizens to help preserve our heritage through donations. La Nuit des Châteaux is a playful way of raising awareness of the need to preserve our treasures, thanks to a nocturnal event that brings together history buffs and the curious eager to make beautiful discoveries.
Visits by candlelight, shows, original walks: there's something for all the family this weekend. For castle owners, now is the time to register to take part in this exceptional event.
