From April 17 to July 1, 2018, the animation "Effets spéciaux: ça tourne à la Tour!" will take up residence on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Linked to the Cité des Sciences exhibition "Effets spéciaux, crevez l'écran!", this animation transports us to the heart of a movie set and invites us to become actors through 3 participative workshops.

How about stepping into the shoes of an actor performing feats at the Eiffel Tower ? That's the fun, interactive animation the site is offering from April 17 to July 1, 2018. This year, perhaps you don't know it, but the Eiffel Tower is honoring cinema. The Eiffel Tower and cinema have had a real love affair since its creation in 1898. This event is the first highlight of a year dedicated to the 7th art.

Currently on show at the Cité des Sciences, a super interactive exhibition reveals the secrets of cinema's special effects: Effets spéciaux, crevez l'écran! The animation on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower is in fact an adaptation of the exhibition.

Discover the animation on video:

Please note that the animation itself is free of charge, with only the ascent to the tower subject to a fee. So off we go to the second floor of the tower to discover the space dedicated to this animation. On arrival, we discover the long and beautiful history that links the Tower to the 7th art.

Three interactive experiences are then offered:

The first workshop explainsthe principle of collective incrustation or how to mix the real and the virtual. Here, we're invited to walk on a green background to be inlaid live into a computer-generated set. In the image, we see ourselves moving cautiously along the monument's girders. It's a vertiginous experience!

In thestyle of Segundo de Chomón's 1907 silent film Les Kiriki, acrobats japonais, the second module, "Faites les acrobates!", is devoted to the vertical diving technique, much used in superhero and science-fiction films . Lying on the floor, we perform different movements, playing with the projected images. Our portraits are then straightened, thanks to a camera set up high up, with a modified angle of view. The result: like Spiderman, we become apprentice stuntmen, defying gravity.

Finally, visit photocall to strike a pose in a cinema setting .New actors in the making are invited to take photos of themselves by sliding their faces into frames inspired by a film set. They can then share their selfies on social networks using the hashtag #çatournealatour.

Feeling peckish? A bar is at your disposal. A studio-style bar with director's chairs. On the menu? popcorn, sweets, ice creams and, of course, drinks.

How about a bit of acting?
