Every year, in the summer, literature takes over Île-de-France with Partir en Livre and its roaming literary theme park! This free book festival spotlights the values of solidarity and sharing, and this time it lands in Savigny-sur-Orge in Essonne, on June 18, as well as in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, in the Yvelines, the following day!
Designed especially for teenagers aged 11 to 18, this event offers several dozen fun and interactive attractions, but also the chance to leave with books thanks to the complimentary reading vouchers.
Born in 2018 as part of Partir en livre, the flagship children’s book festival organized since 2014 by the Centre National du Livre (CNL), Livrodrome has gone national since 2022 and, each summer, charts its own “Tour de France” across six stopover cities this year. Its aim is to make books a leisure pursuit and rekindle in a generation that's drifting away from books and reading the pleasure of reading.
For the first leg, head to Jean-Baptiste Corot High School, and the next day to the Garden of the Arts, for two days alongside authors, illustrators, screenwriters, publishing professionals and craftspeople who will lead workshops in writing, illustration and exploring careers in the publishing world. The program includes literary games, book clubs, graphic-novel battles, immersive installations and live readings, all designed for passionate book lovers to share ideas and inspiration.
Heads up, some workshops require a pre-registration is mandatory to access!
First, a question-and-answer game, in the form of a quiz, to discover which animal from La Fontaine's fables you are, and which moral most closely corresponds to you... Depending on the answers, the corresponding ephemeral tattoo will be created and the fable offered in the form of a postcard to send to the person of your choice, or to keep preciously with you.
Imagined by Jérôme Hoffmann, this installation invites the public to sit inside a giant book and enjoy an immersive reading experience, with headphones, around the short-story collection published by the CNL for the 12th edition of Partir en livre, written by six of the era’s most acclaimed teenage authors on the theme “Our Small and Large Heroes.”
Take advantage of a literary consultation with a librarian to get a prescription for the book or album that's right for you - that's what the Cabine d'ordonnances littéraires offers. Each patient leaves with a personalized prescription and a list of titles that can be purchased in bookshops or libraries.
Illustrators and comic writers will run graphic-novel workshops that reveal the techniques and creative processes unique to the 9th art, as well as sessions on the trades and know-how of publishing—from the jaspage technique to the craft of a literary influencer!
