Initiated in 2003 by the Ministry of Culture, the Rendez-vous aux Jardins event invites curious visitors craving greenery to (re)discover, usually for free, thousands of gardens across France. This year, Rendez-vous aux Jardins 2026 runs from June 5 to 7, 2026—mark your calendars!
This bucolic yet playful celebration aims to reveal to both young and old the diversity of gardens, while also highlighting the importance of protecting, conserving, maintaining, restoring and creating gardens—essential elements of the heritage for centuries.
With its hectares of sublime historic gardens, the Palace of Versailles is a true treasure trove of discoveries, and it’s fitting that the château is taking part once again in Rendez-vous aux Jardins 2026! Discover the program awaiting you in this royal and historic domain of the Sun King.

By Giulio Giorgi, landscape designer, ecologist, agronomist, and Olivier R. P. David, chemistry professor at the Université de Versailles.
What do plants actually smell like? How do they use scents to attract insects, defend themselves, respond to their environment, and relate to humans? This conference invites audiences to explore the crucial role of perfumes in plant life, and in our own perception of plants—memory, emotion, uses, and sensations. Giorgi and David will sketch the main ideas of the book "Botanique Olfactive," weaving together botanical insight, scientific perspective, and personal sensory experience. The talk will also showcase an olfactory herbarium and propose a sensory route through the Potager du Roi to savor the fragrances of spring. At the end, attendees will have the opportunity to have Giulio Giorgi sign copies of the book.
