Rendez-vous aux Jardins is the highly anticipated event for nature and culture enthusiasts across Île-de-France! For one weekend only, June 5 to 7, 2026, numerous public and private gardens will open their gates to the public for tours, activities, and concerts — all completely free and accessible to everyone! It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore extraordinary gardens, some undiscovered, secret, or unusual, that will be welcoming visitors during this can't-miss event.

The Garden of the King of Rome, which surrounds the eponymous palace in Rambouillet, is a botanical jewel set within a remarkable historic setting. This stunning French-style garden was established several centuries ago, in the 19th century, by order of Napoleon I as a tribute to his son, the King of Rome. Today, it is a listed historic monument, enchanting visitors with its geometric flowerbeds, tree-lined avenues, and central pond.   • Study of a cultivated hillside
    Saturday, June 6, 2026 - 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM

    Maryam Aroua, a Rambouillet resident and student at the National School of Landscape at the Potager du Roi in Versailles, has dedicated the past year to studying and analyzing a bed in the Garden of the King of Rome. She invites you to explore her research, now showcased within the garden itself.



  • The King's Garden in Rome: From Past to Present
    Saturday, June 6, 2026 - 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM, 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM

    Join a guided tour to uncover the fascinating story of this one-of-a-kind garden. Created by landscape painter Hubert Robert in 1786, it has undergone numerous transformations under its various owners. When the city acquired the western part of the Palace of the King of Rome in 1989, plans were put in place for extensions and landscaping projects, which have now resulted in a peaceful haven for downtown strollers.

    At the end of your visit, you’ll have the option to tour the Verger Pavilion for free or explore the artwork of Maryam Aroua.
