If Moret-sur-Loing is a well-known town, Montigny-sur-Loing is just a few kilometers away, along the Loing river. A small village on the banks of the Loing, it has retained its charm of yesteryear: set off to discover this verdant little village.

Less than an hour from Paris, Montigny-sur-Loing is a small, bucolic village where it's nice to take a stroll on a sunny day. Set on the banks of the Loing, a river that flows into the Seine, it's the ideal place to relax for a day out or a weekend in the countryside.

Whether you arrive by transilien train or by car, the first thing you'll usually see is the town's train station or town hall. A few hundred meters further on, you'll find the beautiful 12th-century Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul, with its breathtaking view of the rest of the village from its presbytery. If you'd like to discover Montigny on an interactive stroll, we recommend following the "Raconte-moi mon village" trail, signposted with QR codes to be flashed. In five stages (the train station, the school, the view from the church, the washhouse and the bridge), the village elders tell the younger visitors what Montigny-sur-Loing was like a few years ago, and it's quite interesting to discover!

The highlight of the village, of course, is its banks, which are walkable on both sides, and where you can stretch out and sunbathe in summer. Swimming is forbidden all year round, but there's something truly magical about the walk and the view of the Loing, the village and the trees reflected perfectly in the river. So don't miss out on a trip over the Loing bridge, where you'll catch a glimpse of beautiful scenery on either side. For a day in the fresh air along the Loing, we recommend that you visit Moret-sur-Loing, on foot, by car or by train, to discover this pretty medieval town ranked among France's most beautiful villages!
