Parc Astérix never stops innovating. After a number of exciting new features to celebrate its 35th anniversary, a new attraction is due to open in 2025: a Spinning Coaster-style roller coaster that's sure to be a hit with visitors. Initially scheduled for mid-May, the new ride was finally inaugurated on August 18!

Cétautomatix, Parc Astérix 's new roller coaster, has been a long time coming! Its opening, scheduled for mid-May 2025 was postponed until August, and we now have an official date communicated by the park, Monday August 18!Its launch has been delayed due to problems with the service provider and the delivery of certain components.

The park stated on its social networks that the manufacturer, Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, was unable to keep to the announced schedule . Essential elements of this new family attraction in Europe have fallen behind schedule, directly impacting the testing phases. These tests, carried out by the manufacturer and Parc Astérix, are necessary to guarantee the safety and quality ofthe experience.

After a year 2024 rich in new features to celebrate 35 years, such as the extension of the Egypt zone with the Edifis Tower and the musical comedy dedicated to Asterix, the park is counting on a Spinning Coaster to attract even more visitors. Set right in the heart of the Gaul zone, this new attraction pays tribute to Ketautomatix, the emblematic blacksmith of the Asterix village.

A new attraction that required more space

Parc Astérix, always on the lookout for new experiences for its visitors, permanently closed several infrastructures on November 5, 2023 to make room for this roller coaster. Among the attractions dismantled was the Nationale 7, a ride in old cars that had been taking visitors through a rural setting since 1992. Used every Halloween for the Witch's Trail, this attraction is now history.

We're also bidding farewell to the famous House of Fear, the park's first haunted house, and to the 6-Trills Fair, two staples of the Halloween season, known for their guaranteed thrills. With this, several smaller infrastructures, such as game and food stands, have also disappeared to provide optimal space for this new project.

What kind of attraction is it?

Conceived as a Spinning Coaster, the Cétautomatix attraction is designed to offer a unique experience. Aboard chariots specially created in the Gallic blacksmith's workshop, visitors will experience a whirlwind of emotions.

This roller coaster, probably built by renowned German manufacturer Gerstlauer, will allow passengers to sit face-to-face, promising fun interaction between families and friends along the way. The attraction will be accessible from a height of one meter, making it an ideal family experience. The concept is reminiscent of the Vicky The Ride attraction at Belgium's Plopsa Coo park.

With this new roller coaster, Parc Astérix continues to renew itself, offering us ever more novelties. This constant need for innovation is essential for the park, whose capacity must adapt to the growing number of visitors every year. This project is part of an overall strategy to make the park ever more attractive, particularly in a context where its expansion possibilities are limited by the surrounding protected forest.

Parc Astérix still has plenty of surprises in store for years to come. This new attraction, inspired by the world of Asterix and Obelix, is sure to appeal to young and old alike, while strengthening the park's roller coaster offering. Indeed, Cétautomatix will be more than just a coaster, it will be a Gallic adventure in its own right!
