Where Is Reuilly Garden Located in Paris?

Located at the corner of Daumesnil Avenue and Charenton Street, directly across from the 12th arrondissement town hall, Reuilly Garden spans 15,200 square meters. It ranks as the third-largest green space in the area, after the Vincennes Forest and the Bercy Park. The park is instantly recognizable by its André-Léo wooden footbridge that arches over a semi-circular lawn of 4,200 square meters, serving as the neighborhood’s green oasis.

This garden, designed between 1989 and 1998 by architect Pierre Colboc and the Paysages agency, has been developed on the former Reuilly freight yard site. It forms part of the Coulée Verte René-Dumont pathway, stretching from the elevated section of the Viaduc des Arts to the west to the wooded trench on the east.

What to See and Do at Reuilly Garden in Spring?

During this season, the upper part of the garden becomes the main attraction. The clusters of ornamental apple trees create a stunning pink canopy, perfect for a Parisian hanami, a Japanese tradition of admiring cherry blossoms — an experience you can enjoy without leaving the city. Visitors often settle down at one of the picnic tables, bask in the sunshine, and let the children play freely, just as local families do.

The garden also offers delightful surprises for the curious: a meulière stone cave whose intricate design evokes the Güell Park by Gaudí in Barcelona, a sundial crafted by Régine and Jean-Loup Doucet, and four female statues arranged in a circle around the lawn. Some of these sculptures were commissioned for the 1937 International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques. Among them are The Amazon by Georges Chauvel, The Dance by Charles Malfray, and To Oppressed Peoples by Raymond Delamarre.

At the entrance on Avenue Daumesnil, a nearby landmark is worth a visit: the first public sparkling water fountain established in France. Operated by Eau de Paris, this fountain has been providing free still and sparkling water year-round since September 2010.

What is the story behind Reuilly Garden?

The history of this site stretches back centuries. The hamlet of Reuilly, which gave rise to an entire district, was home as early as 1663 to the opulent Folie de Rambouillet, whose garden overlooked the Seine. Later, it was the Royal Glassworks that put the area on the map, much like the Gobelins for their tapestries. The old freight station then occupied the site until its demolition, paving the way for a competition launched in 1988 by SEMAEST, which led to the creation of the current park. In 2014, it was renamed Reuilly-Paul-Pernin Garden in honor of Paul Pernin (1914–2006), who served as the mayor of the 12th arrondissement from 1983 to 1995.

To get there, the garden can be reached via the Montgallet (Line 8) or Dugommier (Line 6) metro stations. Its official address is 15 Albinoni Street, 12th arrondissement, Paris. Admission is free, and it’s open year-round.

This floral getaway is perfect for those looking for a peaceful green spot, families with children, photography enthusiasts, and anyone eager to experience a hanami—the traditional cherry blossom viewing—without the long flight to Tokyo. To enjoy a more tranquil visit, we recommend going during the week when the soft March sun casts a gentle glow over the scenery.

Two more spots to experience cherry blossom viewing in Paris:

To extend your floral getaway, head over to the Parc de Sceaux in the Hauts-de-Seine. Every spring, its rose garden and cherry trees create one of the most spectacular blossom displays in Île-de-France. Just a heads-up: reservations are now essential to visit this year. Alternatively, you can stroll through Parc Clichy-Batignolles in the 17th arrondissement, where the cherry blossoms draw a lovely crowd of nature lovers and photographers each spring, especially around the pond.
