It's no longer a secret. By 2031, riders of Île-de-France public transport will be able to travel more easily across the entire region thanks to the arrival of four new metro lines (15, 16, 17 and 18). The first among them to come into service will, in fact, be Line 18, with an initial section opening in October 2026.
Meanwhile, work continues, notably on Line 15. Track tests have begun and a record speed of 120 km/h was reached to the east of the line in March. The future Line 15 of the Grand Paris Express will form a beltway around the capital. It will also be France’s longest metro line, at 75 km, serving no fewer than 36 new stations in the inner suburbs. Among them? The station Nanterre La Folie. While its opening to passengers is planned for 2031, a major construction celebration is planned this spring by the Société des Grands Projets, which is in charge of designing and delivering the future Île-de-France network.
Titled "Chantier en fête à Nanterre", this artistic and cultural day will offer a chance to glimpse the progress of the impressive construction site for this upcoming Île-de-France station, while you enjoy strolls, performances, and a variety of activities, including a festive dance. Children and adults alike can also learn more about the project through workshops or by meeting the on-site teams. Note that admission is free and open to everyone.
So, when and where should you head to enjoy this wonderful festival, whose artistic direction has been entrusted to Christian Rizzo? Meet on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The gathering point is at the Gare de Nanterre-La Folie (Rue de la Garenne). To get there, you can take the RER E (Gare Nanterre-La Folie, direct access to the site), the RER A (10 to 15 minutes on foot from Gare Nanterre-Préfecture), or the Transilien lines L and U.
