K-festival 2025 takes over the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris's 16th arrondissement to introduce us to the treasures of Korean culture. This first edition of Chuseok, the traditional harvest festival, transforms the park's Korean space into a veritable voyage to the land of the morning calm. A wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Korean authenticity without leaving the capital.
It has to be said that the setting couldn't have been better chosen. In 2002, the Seoul City Council offered Paris a small piece of South Korean land on almost one hectare of the Jardin d'Acclimatation. This landscaped garden, with its Queen's Alley, King's Garden and Zen walkways, naturally transports us to the Far East. So it's only natural that this celebration should take place in this little corner of Parisian Korea.
The park promises to immerse us in the authentic atmosphere of Seoul, with the enchanting sounds of Pungmul percussion and piri flutes. Parades of traditional Hanbok costumes are part of the program, offering a colorful and photogenic spectacle. Fans of folk dance will enjoy performances of salpuri and beompae, ancestral dances that tell the story of the Korean people.
The experience continues with a recreation of an authentic traditional Korean market, reminiscent of the famous atmosphere of Seoul's Gwangjang Market. The perfect opportunity to sample the delights of Korean street food: Mayak Kimbap, those addictive little rice rolls, Tteokbokki, the famous spicy rice cakes, or Korean Sundae. So grab your chopsticks and let the culinary adventure begin!
For those who wish to go further in their discovery, Korean cooking workshops introduce us to the secrets of this refined gastronomy. It's a great way to learn the techniques and understand the flavors of this age-old cuisine, which is becoming increasingly popular with Parisians.
The festival also gives pride of place to Korean pop culture, with a K-Pop dance competition. An excellent initiative to discover the talents of the new generation and vibrate to the rhythm of Hallyu, the Korean cultural wave that's conquering the world.
Sports enthusiasts are not forgotten, with introductory courses in taekwondo, an ancestral Korean martial art that is part of humanity's intangible cultural heritage. An opportunity to try your hand at this discipline that combines technique, philosophy and respect.
For a complete experience, several traditional Korean games are offered for all ages. From jegichagi, the Korean equivalent of foot flying, to tug-of-war, and various tests of balance and strength, there's plenty of family fun to be had while discovering Korean ludic traditions.
The K-festival is perfectly in tune with the Korean cultural momentum currently driving Paris. Between the success of K-drama series, the craze for K-Pop and the growing popularity of Korean gastronomy in the capital, this festival comes just at the right time.
