Struck by Bloom: the confidential café-bar of the Monnaie de Paris

Some places are really worth a visit. Such is the case of Café Frappé by Bloom.

Inaugurated in September 2017, at the same time as the museum to which it belongs, 11 Conti, this new venue, with its bright, modern, green and warm decor, imagined by Studio DAS, has everything to make you stop in for a long while.

So don't worry if you come across two guards at the entrance. They're there for the museum. Once you've cleared the hurdle, you can push open the transparent door and discover the friendly Café Frappé par Bloom.

Behind this gourmet project is Pauline, founder of the Bloom restaurants in the 11th and 8th arrondissements of Paris.

Just like her big brothers,Bloom has taken over the premises to offer 100% homemade, seasonal, local, responsible cuisine that's accessible to all. As for produce, Pauline buys directly from quality producers in the Paris region.

The menu is both simple and gourmet, with sweet and savoury products such as, for lunch, 100% homemade lasagne, vegetable risotto, bowls, croque monsieur and sandwiches. At weekends, it's time for a more family-style atmosphere, with the unmissable all-you-can-eat brunch buffet for €35 (hot drinks, brioches, waffles, cheeses, cold meats, salads, soups, desserts...).

Café Frappé par Bloom also offers a breakfast menu for €7, and a snack menu for €8.

For our part, we chose to discover the place ataperitif time, available from Thursday to Saturday only. Welcomed by the smiling Clara, the talented head bartender takes us on a wonderful trip to South America with his cocktail suggestion , a skilful beverage based on Mezcal and cucumber.

For cocktail lovers, note that this cocktail changes every day according to the barman's whim, although he confesses to a preference for Latin American spirits such as Mezcal, Tequila and Pisco.

The rest of the menu features classic cocktails such as the Mojito, Moscow Mule and Whisky Sour.

Red and white wines, craft beers and ciders are also on the menu.

To accompany the cocktail, we opt for a fine charcuterie board with homemade terrine, sausage and slices of ham (€16), and an organic burratina seasoned with a drizzle of olive oil (€7).

Also on the menu? Cheeses such as Saint Marcellin roasted with honey, or the mouth-watering Mont d'Or chaud et mouillette to share, tarama, fish rillettes, a Nordic platter, or beef tartare cut with a knife.

And to finish on a sweet note, we've put the finishing touches to our homemade desserts, with an excellent apple crumble on one side, and the famous chocolate moelleux on the other, warm and delicious just the way we like it!

Note that all dishes are cooked daily in Bloom' s kitchen in the 11th arrondissement and then brought back to Café Frappé by Bloom.

Word of mouth is starting to spread, and there's no doubt that Bloom's Café Frappé won't remain a secret for long, so don't delay!
