Rosa Maison Pâtissière opened its doors in early 2026 on Rue Lafayette, in Paris’s 9th arrondissement. A pastry shop and specialty café run by two former high-school classmates invites you into this cozy tea room with a terrace. The address already has Parisians flocking for its signature flans, to name just one highlight.

Rue Lafayette, just steps from the Grands Boulevards, Rosa Maison Pâtissière has set up shop in the 9ᵉ arrondissement of Paris at the start of 2026. Behind this new pastry shop–tea room, there’s a duo of friends formed at Lycée Saint-Rosaire: Louise Riot, a pastry chef with solid palace credentials, and Rebecca Mabou, a former convert now a barista specializing in specialty coffees. A partnership born of a clear affinity, and one worth lingering over.

The name Rosa isn’t random. It honors their shared high school, whose Latin name Rosarium translates to… rosa. It’s also a sly nod to Rosa Parks, quietly woven into the very DNA of the house. The vibe here reflects that double inspiration: warm, free-spirited, and welcoming. You push the door open as you would into a friend’s home who, by luck, happens to bake superb cakes.

The Place

The dining room turns out to be spacious and bright. Seating lines the walls, and there’s a pretty terrace with a few tables to enjoy the nice weather.

Who is Louise Riot, Rosa’s head pastry chef?

Louise Riot’s career offers a glimpse of what to expect from the shop’s showcase. Trained at Ferrandi and EBP, she cut her teeth at the InterContinental Paris, then at the Peninsula under Dominique Da Costa, before moving to Cour des Loges in Lyon, and returning to Paris to lead the pastry program at the Molitor hotel. She was then named head pastry chef of Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra, overseeing the entire sweet offering of the property. There she built a true pastry space that quickly won its audience. With all these stints at grand houses, she now chooses to put them at the service of a human-scale shop with accessible prices. There’s something refreshingly down-to-earth about that.

What to taste at Rosa Maison Pâtissière?

The house-made flans are clearly the showpieces of the display. Louise Riot offers several takes on them: vanilla, pistachio and praline, encountered during our visit, all egg-free, with a flawless texture and distinctly full flavors without an excess of sugar.

The Paris-Brest is equally meticulously crafted, with a generous but never heavy praline mousseline cream. Everything is made on site, including the pastries and the apple turnover, which is rare enough in Paris to warrant a mention. The coffee, meanwhile, hails from Colombia, selected by Rebecca, whose barista training shines through in every cup.

On the savory side, the menu evolves with cravings and the seasons: you can find le Pain Suiss, filled to order in a homemade croissant dough, a quiche de saison (goat cheese and spinach at our visit), or a vegetable-stuffed focaccia. An offering crafted by a pastry chef, which shows in texture and seasoning details you won’t find everywhere.

Prices typically run from €3.20 to €7.10 per item, in line with the quality on offer. Rosa Maison Pâtissière is open Wednesday through Monday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 58 Rue Lafayette, Paris 9th, right opposite the Opéra district and a short walk from Galeries Lafayette.

Our verdict: a sincere, well-run spot where palace-grade know-how is passed on without ceremony. We keep coming back for the flans and the lemon tart, and we stay for the vibe. Ideal for foodies seeking a relaxed, no-frills break, whether solo or in a small group.

Who is Rosa for? For fans of fine pastries at affordable prices, for lovers of specialty coffee, and for anyone who appreciates neighborhood spots run by people who are passionate.
