Founded around 1860 in the heart of the Marais, Au Petit Versailles du Marais blends the elegance of an 18ᵉ decor with the finesse of contemporary pastry art. Between listed ceilings and homemade breads, it embodies a gourmet secret in the heart of Paris.

On a quiet street in the 4ᵉ arrondissement, Au Petit Versailles du Marais is one of the oldest patisseries in the City of Light. With its listed ceilings, elaborate woodwork, studio mirrors and antique chandeliers, this Maison nestles in a preserved 18ᵉ decor, while serving breads, viennoiseries and other pastries that live up to its historic ambition.

An ancestral bakery

According to stories preserved in urban memory, the patisserie has existed since 1860, making it one of the oldest houses in the capital's Marais district. Often referred to as an"ancestral bakery", it is now run by Christian Vabret, Meilleur Ouvrier de France en boulangerie, who strives to perpetuate traditional know-how.

These craftsmen favor long fermentation times, quality flours, natural leavens and traditional gestures, to give each bread and viennoiserie an authentic taste. The place itself boasts a listed ceiling by Charles Anselme, moldings, carved woodwork and décor reminiscent of the elegant Petit Trianon.

Classic pastries in the tea room

French classics such as tarts, éclairs and millefeuille, as well as choux and entremets, are displayed alongside creations that reflect the chef's creativity. Bread accompanies these sweet delights, as do savory offerings such as quiches and sandwiches. The adjoining tea room offers an interlude from the hustle and bustle of Paris, amidst gilding and period mirrors.

A confidential address

Although not a tourist attraction, it attracts those looking for a quiet retreat in the shadow of the Marais. Heritage lovers, curious gourmets and discerning Parisians come for the decor and authenticity. Its old-fashioned shop front bears witness to this desire to remain faithful to an era.
