On the prestigious Place du Trocadéro, Carette has embodiedParisian elegance for almost a century. Renowned for its macaroons, viennoiseries and refined tea room decor, this historic establishment has carved out a special place in the hearts of Parisians and visitors from all over the world.

An elegant birth

In 1927, Jean Carette founded his tea room on the Place du Trocadéro, at the corner of Avenue Kléber. Right from the start, the address won over customers with its refinement, meticulous service and the quality of its home-made pastries. At a time when Paris was shining brightly in the post-war years, Carette became a discreet but prized haunt of the elegant 16ᵉ arrondissement. The terrace, with its breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower, and the interior lounge, with its wood panelling, mirrors and hushed atmosphere, soon made Carette a must for Sunday strolls.

Macaroons, pastries and emblematic sweets

In its early days, Carette distinguished itself by the quality of its macaroons, renowned for their melt-in-the-mouth texture and palette of classic and more original flavors. Pain au chocolat, croissants au beurre, éclairs, fruit tarts and millefeuilles all contribute to the renown of a House committed to the French pastry tradition, which also offers a savoury menu (quiches, croques, salads and club sandwiches), making the tea room a place to come for both a light lunch and a sweet break.

A House that expands but stays true to its roots

In 2010, Carette opened a second address on the Place des Vosges, under the historic arcades of the Marais district. Here again, the decor respects the original soul: light woodwork, elegant service, and pastries in the windows. A third address was later opened on Place du Tertre in Montmartre, in a typically Parisian setting.

Even today, Carette remains a benchmark in the world of Parisian tea rooms, and has recently found a new lease of life, appearing in season 3 ofEmily in Paris.
