As soon as you step through the door, you're immersed in an unusual world of black and white: welcome to 2D atelier! Located just a stone's throw from République, you can choose between bubble tea or cold fruit drinks, hot drinks in winter and, above all, wheel cakes for a gourmet snack.
Choose from wheel cake with Ferrero rocher, cheesecake, peanut butter or Oreo... Or more traditional variations, with red bean paste or matcha. This little cake has a pastry base, a bit like that of crêpes, which is then filled with the filling of your choice. There are even savoury versions, with taro and dried pork, tuna, egg and even raclette!
The wheel cakes are prepared before your very eyes and stamped with the adorable drawing of Dindin, one of the owners' guinea pigs, the real mascot of the 2D atelier. In fact, he's everywhere: on the wheel cakes, on the water bottles in which the drinks are served, and on a whole host of reusable objects you can buy on site!
House specialties include taro fresh milk boba with cream cheese and large purple tapioca balls, or exotic fruit smoothies with cream cheese chantilly, such as strawberry-green tea or avocado-mango.
It's been just over a year since the café opened, with the firm intention of offering a traditional menu ofspecialties from Asia, to be enjoyed in an atypical setting. People come for the experience and the place, as much as for the melting wheel cakes or the gigantic drinks (700 ml). Expect to pay between €3.90 and €4.60 for a sweet or savory wheel cake, and for traditional drinks, prices start at €5.80, rising to €8.50 for the most sophisticated large-format drinks.
