Looking for an authentic Taiwanese tea room in Paris? Head for Paris's 1st arrondissement. Nestled at 41 bis rue de Montpensier, near the Palais Royal, Le Tê is one of those little hidden nuggets we love to discover. This Franco-Taiwanese tearoom offers premium bubble teas, traditional teas and an original , affordable tea time featuringegg cakes baked in front of you.
The address remains discreet, giving it a special charm in this touristy district. The team here is passionate about sharing the richness of Taiwanese culture through the art of tea. Since its opening, the place has been a regular draw for lovers of matcha tea and quality bubble tea.
The ambiance of the place is very appealing. The space, decorated in a modern Taiwanese style, blends traditional touches with contemporary elements. Soft colors and wooden furniture create a zen atmosphere in which to relax. Guests appreciate this calm environment, which is convenient for working thanks to the numerous sockets available and free Wi-Fi. Air conditioning and clean toilets add to the comfort of this little urban cocoon.
The Tê menu offers authentic Taiwanese flavors in a wide variety of creations. Milk Tê is available in several versions, such as Brown Sugar Bear (black tea with milk and brown sugar) or Pink Matcha (Uji matcha with milk and strawberries). Fruity teas offer original blends such as Forest Fruit (black tea with raspberry) or Taipei Escape (green tea with honey and lemon). Fans of floral flavors will appreciate Purple Field (lavender green tea) or Midnight Rose (rose black tea).
When it comes to bubble teas, Le Tê stands out from all the other take-away outlets to be found just about everywhere. Here, the emphasis is on quality: each tea on the menu can be enhanced with tapioca pearls (black, white or mini), coconut jelly orherbs, as you wish. This approach allows you to personalize your experience without being limited to standardized blends. Purists will appreciate this freedom of composition, which respects the authenticity of the Taiwanese product.
Egg cakes, a real house specialty, are well worth a look. These little Taiwanese treats, sold in 6-piece portions for €5, are eaten in an unexpected way: they're dipped in tea! Their texture is reminiscent of waffles, and their authentic taste is a pleasant surprise. The team offers tea time formulas from 10€, allowing you to discover these specialties in the best possible conditions.
Drinks can be customized with a range of toppings: black or white tapioca pearls, coconut or herb jellies, plain, pink or matcha whipped cream (€0.50 extra). M (450ml) and L (550ml) sizes are available to suit all tastes, with prices ranging from €5.80 to €7.20 depending on the drink chosen.
The salon offers four main categories: creamy Milk Tê, fruity teas with original blends, delicate floral teas and Matcha Tê for fans of the precious Japanese green tea. Egg cakes , plain or in a variety of flavors, are the must-try sweet specialties. Other ephemeral pastries are also made, mainly with the flavors found in the house's various teas. During our visit, our tea time consisted of matcha cake and black tea madeleines.
Unlike in France, these little Taiwanese sweets are dipped directly into the tea. This practice, typical of the Taiwanese art of living, is surprising at first, but it goes down a treat and, we must admit, reveals some interesting flavors. Their waffle-like texture delicately absorbs the aromas of the chosen tea. And since we opted for the extra cream, we were in for a real treat.
Le Tê is open Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 12pm to 8:45pm, and Friday from 12pm to 9:45pm. The establishment closes on Saturdays. Tea-time formulas start at €10, and individual drinks range from €5.80 to €7.20. Egg cakes and pastries of the day are available for €5 to €5.50.
Located at 41 bis rue de Montpensier in the 1st arrondissement, Le Tê is just a few steps from the Jardin du Palais Royal. The Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre metro station (lines 1 and 7) provides direct access. Although slightly hidden from view opposite the Théâtre du Palais Royal, the address is easily accessible from the main Paris boulevards.
This Franco-Taiwanese tearoom is for the curious looking for an authentic experience rather than a quick bubble tea. Lovers of cultural discovery will find plenty to do here, as will those who appreciate taking their time over a quality cup of tea. It's also ideal for students or mobile workers, thanks to its Wi-Fi and numerous outlets, as well as for groups of friends looking to share an original experience.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a quick snack or an express coffee, this is not necessarily the address for you. The spirit of the place is more one of relaxation and discovery than speed. Similarly, lovers of full-bodied teas might prefer other addresses, as here finesse takes precedence over strength. With friends, as a couple or for a moment of relaxation on your own, Le Tê offers a delightful cocoon in the heart of Paris, a stone's throw from the gardens of the Louvre and the historic heritage of the 1st arrondissement.
