Did you know that on the 6th floor of the Printemps Haussmann women's department store, you'll find the Bleu Coupole restaurant and tea room? It's a discreet spot with a breathtaking view over the rooftops of Paris and the Sacré Coeur. Located beneath the department store's immense dome, you'll be charmed by its magical setting.
Every day, the spot transforms into an afternoon tea room, offering us the chance to settle down for a coffee, tea or even a gourmet tea time any day of the week, from 3pm to 7pm. An afternoon tea that's still affordable, costing €32 per person.
This tea time was imagined by Xavier Pistol for the savoury part and Bryan Esposito for the sweet part. A talented duo who have not finished delighting us.
The tea-time spread shifts with the seasons. In winter, or strawberries and rhubarb in summer, for example. We like the savory side, which is generous and a welcome change from the endless, ultra-classic finger sandwiches. Here, there’s more experimentation, and the flavors are straightforward, bold, and a bit pep-filled.
The dessert offering is fairly generous, and you’ll often find a madeleine served with the éclair (lemon version we tried) dressed in Spring colors. Cookies and crumble were on the menu during our latest visit. All of it pairs nicely with tea, coffee, a cappuccino, or a house-made hot chocolate. Here’s a €32 deal that hardly has any peers.
If the craving hits, the menu also features a selection of sweet and savory bites, perfect to liven up your tea time if you fancy, or to opt for a lighter afternoon snack. This let us sample the balloon fraisier, a strawberry cake that neatly ushers in the Spring season.
In short, for the ideal spot before or after a shopping trip, to sit under a beautiful cupola or just to enjoy a good tea time while admiring Paris, this is a good plan to try out.
