Kodama is a boutique and tea bar in the Montorgueil district of Paris, offering some forty different teas and infusions, to be enjoyed with a homemade pastry.

Here's a comforting address ideal for facing the oncoming winter. Opened in 2015 under the impetus of three friends, Alix, Vincent and Martin, Kodama is a charming boutique doubling as the cutest tea bar in the Montorgueil district.

The menu features some forty teas and infusions created from scratch by a team ofArtisans du Thé (tea artisans), who were honored by Gault&Millau in 2020. They draw their inspiration from across the globe to create original blends with original flavors and tastes, offered in a range designed by Kodama under delicious names chosen as a tribute to the prettiest French expressions.

These include Le Vent en Poupe green tea with spearmint, A Coeur Vaillant green tea (mint, orange peel), A Fleur de Peau white tea (rose, violet, jasmine) and La Part des Anges white tea (slivered almonds, popcorn), and Comme des Petits Pains black tea (dates, cocoa beans) and Au Petit Bonheur black tea (peaches, rosemary). Infusions too have enchanting nicknames, like Des Lendemains qui Chantent (mint, licorice, lemon), La Vie à Pleines Dents (rooibos, apple, sweet spices) or Du Bout des Lèvres (hibiscus, pineapple, pink pepper).

The recipes, hand-crafted in Kodama's Paris workshop from100% natural ingredients, with no preservatives or synthetic ingredients, appear and disappear on the menu according to the desires of the House's founders and the seasons, and a large proportion of these teas and infusions are organic, a very good point.

In winter as in summer, Kodama offers a variety of tea experiences, whether hot or cold, thanks to a cold-brewing process that allows all the tea's flavours to develop, even at low temperatures. And let's face it, even in winter, cold tea is pleasant and allows you to be original, for example, by proposing divine food and tea pairings during a meal.

Obviously, with Paris freezing cold, we can't recommend enough that you indulge in one of the winter season 's guilty pleasures: the chaï latte (5€), made here from cow's milk or plant milks, and covered in a thick, albeit airy, foam.

Open every day of the week from 1:30pm to 6:30pm, with extended opening hours on Saturdays from 11am to 8pm, Kodama also features a small pastry corner, created by Clémence Marchon, pastry chef and sister of chef Alexandre Marchon, head of the Marchon restaurant in the 11th arrondissement. The perfect accompaniment to your tasty beverages with delicate artisanal pastries.

A real little cocoon of softness that smells of tea from the moment you step through the door.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
