In the 13th arrondissement, a charming cozy and welcoming coffee shop has opened just across from the Nationale metro station. But don’t think it’s just a regular café — it also functions as an atelier where you can create your very own cosplay! Whether you want to relax with a cookie or a hot chocolate, or use the opportunity to work on bringing a character to life with the help of professional equipment available at Central Cos, this place has it all.
An innovative concept brought to you by Dany and Barbara, lifelong friends and avid enthusiasts of the geek world that first brought them together. This idea is especially tailored for cosplayers, whether beginners or seasoned pros.
In the city, few spots offer the space needed to create these costumes, accessories, and creative pieces inspired by pop culture characters. Crafting these often requires room to sew, cut, paint, and engage in other activities that aren't always safe or convenient at home.
Instead of pursuing your passion alone at home, Central Cos offers a collaborative space where you can work on your project at your own pace, whether by booking a time slot or with a pay-as-you-go membership. However, very solitary creators or those seeking complete silence should opt for off-peak hours, as the space is lively during certain times of the day.
Regular classes are offered by external instructors, giving participants the chance to learn new skills and receive guidance—often for just a few euros—instead of struggling through obscure tutorials.
Without any accompaniment, you’re welcome to use the workshop, its machines, and the basic supplies available—at your convenience—in DIY mode. The cost is €8 during off-peak hours on weekdays from 9 am to 1 pm, and €12 at all other times. Just a quick note: for raw materials like fabrics, you'll need to bring your own some.
If you need to use state-of-the-art equipment such as a laser cutter, embroidery machine, or 3D printer, simply ask the staff. They can assist with your request for an additional fee, as specialized training is required to operate these tools.
This hybrid spot is open to everyone, even dogs are welcome! You can settle in at a table for a quick bite or even work remotely, with plenty of power outlets available. Or simply relax on one of the pastel-colored sofas for extra comfort. When it comes to drinks, while you can order a classic coffee, tea, matcha, or hot chocolate, there's also the option to craft a custom beverage by choosing your base, milk, and syrup.
When it comes to sweet treats, all the cakes (ranging from €3.90 to €5) are sourced from La petite fabrique gourmande, a shop in Seine-et-Marne known for its homemade goodies—all free of preservatives. Their offerings include an array of cookies, rich carrot cakes, and fluffy brioche, sometimes gluten-free. Additionally, the café generally prioritizes French suppliers and short supply chains. Even the four-legged friends have their moment of indulgence with a “pup cup” if they’ve been well-behaved.
Numerous events are hosted here, with the space being made available for fan meet-ups, pop-up shops, masterclasses, and games. Check out their social media each month for the full schedule.
