We're off to the 11th arrondissement, a few steps fromAtelier des Lumières, to discover @unreve, a newcafé-tea room-pastry shop that marries coffee shop goodness with Chinese and Asian flavors. Here, everything is fresh, homemade and made on the spot. Why @unreve, you may ask? Quite simply because it's Estelle's dream come true here.
At the entrance, you'll find the pastry counter, where you'll discover a wide range of sweet treats. There are classics like the vanilla-Baileys Flan and the Paris-Brest with homemade almond-hazelnut praline, but also and above all the exotic. Let yourself be seduced by the rose-shaped cococoffee tart, which combines sweet cocoa paste, creamy chocolate, coffee praline, coconut dacquoise, milk chocolate ganache, coconut chantilly and crumble.
The Nuage Litchi with black sesame and the Earl Grey pineapple are great discoveries for those looking for something new to try. Expect to pay between €4 and €7.50 per pastry.
We're off to the dining room for a gourmet break. Open from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm, the light-toned, uncluttered and relaxing setting welcomes you for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and, of course, weekend brunch . On sunny days, a terrace awaits you in front of the tea room.
During our visit, we were tempted by the Matcha Latte and the Sesame Latte, as delicious as they are beautiful, we love them. The sesame croissant is just perfect, and the matcha pancakes, topped with praline, fruit, caramel and hazelnuts, are decadent and easy to gobble up.
On the savoury side, we chose the surprising marriage between croissant and stewed pork. Add pickled radish and fermented cabbage, pickled egg and lamb's lettuce, and you've got an unexpected dish that was a pleasure to eat.
The Fried Chicken Toast is equally appealing. Homemade sandwich bread wrapped in egg, spring onions and black sesame, topped with fried chicken and served with a Tianmian sauce and roasted cherry tomatoes, it's a delight.
Last but notleast, we 'd like to recommend the bizarre Chinese black sesame fritters, a fried fritter married with mochi, and accompanied by a Morello cherry coulis onto which sweetened condensed milk is poured. Yes, it can be confusing, but you have to try it to get an idea.
How about a new , original coffee shop ?
