The images speak for themselves: brunch at Princesse Café, available at weekends and on weekdays, is as generous as it is affordable, colorful and absolutely delicious.

Princesse Café has been spinning plates on quiet Rue Bichat for several years now, serving sando, burgers, eggs Benedict as well as pancakes, cookies and cinnamon rolls from morning till night, making this coffee shop on the border of street-food and bistronomy one of the most gourmet spots around Canal Saint-Martin.

Since the beginning of the year, Jules Blot, head of the restaurant, has been collaborating with young chefs, who have the freedom to create five tapas each, demonstrating Princesse Café's determination to keep up with the times and constantly renew itself. But Jules Blot has also understood another current trend: the possibility of enjoying brunch any day of the week, without having to wait impatiently for the weekend.

At weekends and on certain weekdays, Princesse Café offers a hearty, tasty brunch at an affordable price. A brunch of the many colorful dishes that have made this coffee shop such a success costs just €25, and can be enjoyed indoors in the small, freshly redecorated room, or, for even greater pleasure, in the sunshine on the small terrace.

So what's inside an affordable brunch? Here, don't expect to find the traditional combo of butter and jam or pastries. At Princesse Café, brunch is more Anglo-Saxon, with specialties from across the Atlantic, but not only.

For 25€, gourmets and aesthetes can choose between a glass of homemade iced tea, a fruit juice of the moment or a glass of bissap for a cold drink; or a coffee, tea or latte (+2€, we recommend you try the astonishing black sesame latte) for a hot drink.

Then it's on to the savory side, with a choice of eggs Benedicte lightly truffled with bacon, salmon or mushrooms ; the traditional breakfast sandwich with bacon, scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese sauce; the bun with salmon, avocado and scrambled eggs; the breakfast burger with entrecote effiloché and scrambled eggs (+2€) with its vacuum-cooked meat, or the vegetarian version of the breakfast burger (+2€). I'm particularly fond of the eggs Bénédicte, with their perfectly runny yolks, topped with an abundance of fresh herbs, terribly creamy and devilishly, devilishly comforting.

As for sides, Princesse Café offers a choice of sweet potato fries, spicy grilled potatoes, pan-fried mushrooms (+1€) or a plate of roasted cauliflower (+1€) to accompany the generous main course after a burger or sandwich. Another highlight is the potato bun, with its homemade recipe, made by a local craftsman.

For your sweet tooth, you can choose from any of the coffee shop's desserts, including brownie, kumquat cheesecake, French toast-style caramel and praline sando, and vegan coconut yoghurt with rosewater and caramelized pistachios.
