From Montparnasse to Alésia, via Rue Daguerre, the 14th arrondissement hides some superb pastries and bakeries. Here’s where to satisfy a sweet tooth!

Montparnasse on its own tells a chapter of Paris’s artistic saga. Picasso, Modigliani, Man Ray and numerous writers flocked to its cafés and studios in the early 20th century. The 14th arrondissement today preserves echoes of that era while offering plenty of other reasons to wander there.

The Catacombes draw visitors underground, the parc Montsouris invites them to breathe some air, while the Cité internationale universitaire reveals an astonishing architectural complex to the south of the district. Around Pernety, Alésia and the rue Daguerre, the scene becomes more residential and shops.

It's precisely in these vibrant neighborhoods that a treasure trove of bakeries, pastries, chocolateries and coffee shops hides in plain sight. Because while Montparnasse remains famous for its crêperies, sugar lovers would be mistaken to stop at crepes!

A perfect excuse to leave the main arteries and explore the surrounding streets. Looking for a place to take a goûter after the Catacombs or before a stroll in Montsouris Park? Here are the sweet spots to try in the 14th arrondissement.
