How about getting away from the hustle and bustle of Paris and into the green? Let's head for the gates of the Château de Versailles, to the Trianon Palace to be precise, to discover the bucolic and gourmet Jardin du Trianon. We love a relaxed, gourmet summer, especially in a setting as elegant as the Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace Versailles. This summer, we're settling in under the trees of this summer terrace that reinvents street-food the palace way. The setting is regal, the atmosphere cool, and the food ultra-gourmet, with no fuss.
Gone are the take-away snacks, and here we're talking competition Fish & Chips, homemade burger, lobster roll with brioche bun, or croque de la Reine. Chef Frédéric Larquemin is at the helm, with a menu designed as a refined tribute to comfort food. All served non-stop from midday to midnight, and until 1am on weekends.
On the sweet side, Pastry Chef Eddie Benghanem delights us with his icy creations: frosted raspberry-melon pots, flowing caramel cheesecake or revisited Saint-Honoré. Special mention goes to barman Thomas Roy's crazy cocktails, with their fairground inspiration and contemporary twist. Try a bacon-infused Old Fashioned, a cocktail with popcorn or a tangy version with a cotton candy twist.
Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, it's time for live music in the open air, with a cocktail in one hand and a punnet of home fries in the other. The atmosphere is one of relaxation, between the green tablecloths and the subdued lighting, with service that's attentive but not fussy.
Among the dishes we've tried and tested, we recommend the tuna tataki, sautéed shrimp and octopus with Espelette pepper aioli, and Thursday night's soft ribs sandwich with chimichurri sauce. All served with home fries or a fresh salad.
Good news: it's open every day without reservation, until the end of summer. Whether you're out for a stroll in the park or looking for a slightly different food experience, Le Jardin du Trianon ticks all the boxes for a tasty, quiet, green moment.
Here, you can relax in the shade of century-old trees, revisit the world over a drink, or take a gourmet break in one of Versailles' most beautiful settings. A great address to discover all summer long, with your feet in the grass and your taste buds celebrating.
If you're looking for a moment of relaxation just outside Paris, the Jardin du Trianon Palace is the place to go for a magical experience. A word of advice: take a stroll through the superb gardens of the Château de Versailles to whet your appetite, before enjoying a feast until nightfall.
