A true Japanese tradition,'Hanami' is the season of sakura cherry blossoms. Depending on the region and the weather, blossoming begins in the south of Japan - towards Okinawa - and moves northwards - towards Hokkaido -, usually between late March and early April.
People gather in parks, under cherry blossom trees, and organize picnics with friends and family. They eat, drink sake or beer, and enjoy the ephemeral beauty of the flowers. In Paris, too, the hanami season has been celebrated for several years. Every year, the Parc de Sceaux unveils a whole program of festivities, to take advantage of the beauty of the trees in full bloom.
On April 19 and 20, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Japanese boutique Yodoya is organizing its own Hanami Paris Festival, for the second year running. Head for 9 rue Cadet in the 9th arrondissement, in the artist's house and cultural center Cromot Paris, for a 100% Japanese program.
On the program: some twenty Japanese food stalls, groceries, handicrafts, a florist, as well as artistic performances, including a Japanese drum show, dance, singing, a participatory kimono parade and activities for children. Admission is €2 per person!
