This Wednesday, April 1, Laurent Kalala of the excellent restaurant Bomaye has, indeed, claimed the Île-de-France title with his Le Burgateau burger. He thus earns a spot in the final of the 2026 Burger Cup of France, which takes place on the same day, from 5:15 p.m.

Five contenders squared off for the regional title, but it was the Burger de Bomaye, built around a juicy beef patty, gooey cheese and a brioche bun, that won the judges over. Inspired by "une Afrique contemporaine", it hides bissap, a mafé sauce and a plantain.

With the year’s theme being the burger of the future, its creator explains: "This burger captures a vision of the burger of the future: a product that shakes up visual norms without abandoning its core principles, that tells a strong cultural story, and that turns a popular dish into a sensory and intellectual experience. A burger that looks like a dessert, but eats like a manifesto."

The 2026 ranking of the best burger in Île-de-France:

  • 1. Bomaye (Laurent Kalala, Paris 11) featuring the Le Burgateau burger

At 6:30 p.m., the public’s favorite award will be handed out to the burger that drew the most votes from the general public, with a €500 prize. Then, starting at 5:15 p.m., it’s back to the action with the final of the 2026 Coupe de France du Burger!

The top contestant from each region must create his unique burger recipe in 25 minutes, which will be judged on several criteria by a panel of more than 20 experts, chaired this year by chef Tom Meyer:

  • Stays true to the "Burger of the Future" theme
  • Chefs’ culinary craft and the burger’s suitability for snacking (fast service and takeaway)
  • Visual appeal of the burger and its presentation
  • Flavor and indulgence of the burger
