In a green enclave at the heart of the Essonne (91), nestled in Boutigny-sur-Essonne, the Miellerie Du Gatinais opens its doors to the public to explore the world of bees and artisanal honey.
Created by Thierry and Camille Sergent, this family-run operation has, for more than 25 years, upheld a environmentally mindful beekeeping that respects the bees. Here, the honey is produced artisanally, with no added sugar or excessive processing, with a particular emphasis on local biodiversity.
The Miellerie du Gâtinais is, in fact, the only apiary officially labeled by the Parc naturel régional du Gâtinais français and one of the few producers of royal jelly in Île-de-France!
Free and self-guided visits (or guided by appointment), available year-round, appeal to families as much as to curious visitors of all ages. On the program: discovery of the hives, safe bee observation, a tour of the honey extraction room, an introduction to beekeeping equipment, and a briefing on the essential role pollinators play in our ecosystem.
Visitors can also explore an insectarium and an educational garden where nectar-bearing plants and insects coexist in harmony... before heading off with arms full of goodies: different varieties of honey (acacia, forest, chestnut, wildflowers, or linden), as well as propolis, royal jelly and even fresh pollen!
