In Poissy, an artisanal distillery takes visitors on a journey through more than three centuries of artisanal know-how. With tours of the workshops and liqueur tastings on the program, the Distillerie du Noyau de Poissy promises a flavorful and heritage-filled escape in the Yvelines (78).

In the heart of Poissy hides one of Île-de-France’s oldest artisanal distilleries. Behind the unassuming facade of the Distillerie du Noyau de Poissy, a place rich in history reveals itself, where traditions, almond aromas, and secret recipes have been handed down since the 17th century.

The guided tours, offered year-round, invite the curious to discover the secrets of making these artisan liqueurs still produced with passion. Visitors follow each step of the process, from maceration to distillation and blending, before diving into the anecdotes that have shaped the place’s reputation.

From the moment you step into the Distillerie du Noyau de Poissy, the setting whisks you back in time. Casks, stills and antique bottles tell the fascinating story of the famous noyau de Poissy, this iconic Île-de-France liqueur born, legend has it, from the idea of an innkeeper who macerated apricot kernels in eau-de-vie. A recipe that over the centuries has become a genuine local institution.

We also learn that in 1826, the liqueur was rewarded with the prestigious Silver Goblet handed to her by the Duchess of Berry. But the most anticipated moment remains undoubtedly the tasting of the House’s creations, renowned for notes of sweet almond, spices, and dried fruits.

It's as simple as that: the recipe has stayed unchanged for 300 years, and of course you can walk away with a bottle to take home!
