When fashion runs hot, it rolls out the ice-cream cart. From June 29 to July 11, 2026, a free ice-cream distribution will set up in front of the new Ami Paris store, at 4, place des Victoires, in the 1st arrondissement. In partnership with the Italian brand Sammontana, the operation accompanies the opening of this new Parisian address.

In front of the shop, the setup signals a summer pause: high tables, parasols and an ice-cream cart stage a terrasse éphémère ouverte aux passants. You can snag a glace offerte, while supplies last, for a frosty detour between Les Halles, the Palais-Royal and the shoppers’ streets of central Paris.
The fashion-and-ice-cream pairing isn’t new to turning heads with a scoop. In 2025, Valentino Beauty had already offered free ice cream at a summer pop-up.
On the ice-cream counter, Sammontana brings an Italian twist. Born in Empoli, in Tuscany, in the late 1940s, the brand started as a family gelateria before becoming one of Italy's leading ice-cream names, notably with its family-sized formats like Barattolino.
A seasonal pick to snag a few minutes of cool in the heart of Paris, before pressing on under the sun.
Our take:
On paper, the lure is irresistible: a free ice cream right in Paris, just as the temps starts to soar. In reality, the promotion isn’t as chill as it sounds. To claim your pot, you first scan a QR Code, provide your name, surname and email address, then pick a flavor. The ice is free, yes, but not without a catch. It’s a give-and-take, and this little formality can put a few people off.
Once you’ve filled out the form, the reward arrives in a pot, not a cone. Each person gets one scoop, a decent size, topped with a chocolate medallion engraved with the brand logo. A detail to note: the offer is limited to one ice cream per person. Not unusual in principle, but the on-site reminder came with a rather inelegant “you shouldn’t come every day.”
As for flavors, the first week offers lemon, pistachio, chocolate and vanilla. The second week adds lemon, vanilla, strawberry sorbet and nocciola (hazelnut).
Culinary notes, all good: the ice creams are creamy, smooth and well flavored, with the dense texture typical of Italian-style gelato. The quality is definite.
The setup remains deliberately simple. A small kiosk sits in front of the shop, on place des Victoires, with five standing tables under large white parasols. The spot is fine for a quick tasting, but don’t expect a proper lounge or a special event.
If you’re in the neighborhood and you don’t mind sharing your email, it’s worth a detour for the ice cream’s quality. But if you’re hoping for a totally unrestricted, no-sign-up offering, better know what you’re in for before queuing.
